Welcome to our podcast, a well-Designed Home. I’m Melissa. I am the principal, interior designer at Timeless Designs. I’ve been in the industry since 2004. I really love bringing in a place where clients can feel like there is no place like their home. So today’s topic, we’re going to talk about a truly unique design experience that’s personalized. So the main thing for me is definitely to have a unique design and personalized experience for our clients because our clients are generally investing a lot of time and a lot of funds to either build their home or completely remodel their home. And so it should be a really enjoyable and really fun experience. Unfortunately, that’s not the case most often. It’s very sad that people have had horror stories when they’re building or remodeling, and I just don’t want that to be the case. Now, there are things that come up when you’re remodeling.

There’s things that come up when you’re building, but having your team in place is really what makes that experience much better. Interviewing and meeting with the people that are going to be working on your project so that you know how things are going to go. Make sure we’re not going to Macy’s and buying a top. You are building, you renovating an entire home. It’s a significant timeline or a project, and so making sure that you get along well with the team that you have assembled. And so having a really great experience starts from the very first moment until the keys get handed over to you and you get to walk into your new home.

So part of our personalized experience is very unique in that it’s very client forward. We really, really enjoy little fun, unexpected experiences throughout the process. So we really like to celebrate the kickoff of projects when we’re working with clients. And so we bring champagne and macarons when we’re presenting the project because it should be fun and it should be an enjoyable experience because this is your home. This is where you spend a majority of your time, and all of your memories are made in your home with your families and at holidays and birthdays and just all of the little day-to-day things. And so we really like to celebrate all of the milestones throughout your project. And we really, our clients have loved this immensely. We also like to do just a fun, something catered to each of our clients throughout the project. So whether it’s they enjoy some sort of art class or they enjoy going to shows or a special place to eat, or if they have an anniversary, we like to coordinate something special for our clients throughout the project that they can go as an experience because it can be really stressful.

And so we just want to remind them of how we’re thinking about them, and they’re top of mind for us, and we really do appreciate them. And by appreciating them, we show them by trying to curate this really great experience so that in the end, they have a really great home and they look back and enjoyed for the most part of it. Again, there’s things that come up, but we really want to help curate that really personalized experience. And one of my most favorite things and our client’s most favorite things is the big reveal. And so we do some special things before we turn over the home and we walk through it. And then we like to coordinate a housewarming party for our clients because I love to plan things. And what better than to offer a housewarming party for our clients so they can share their amazing new home with ’em again, it really starts the personalization for your project at the very beginning and assembling your team.

That is your architect, your landscape architect, your builder, your designer, any special trade artisans that need to be brought in, assembling that specific to you and your project. Certain builders build a certain style, certain designers design a certain style. And so that’s a really great way to personalize your project.
